Marvin has over thirty years of experience in
construction and construction-related fields. His experience spans the gamut
from furniture, vehicular, and marine projects to residential, office, and
retail spaces. His understanding of construction processes, materials, and
technology are matched by his careful study of construction law, contracts, and
financial documents, and are a unique asset to his clients. |

Early Influence
The function of Japanese joinery and the rigors of the
Bauhaus approach to design were introduced to Marvin by one of his early
clients and mentor, Gideon Kramer, graduate of the Institute of Design at
Chicago's Illinois Institute of Technology and designer of the Ion Chair, an
icon of modern furniture design, the original chair used in the Space
Needle.
Gideon's holistic approach as an artist, scientist, designer,
and inventor influenced Marvin's life-long interest in the relationship between
materials, technology, design, and function. |

Professional
Influences
Early in his
career as a contractor, Marvin understood the importance of Construction and
Contract Law, and their implementation in both AIA contract documents and
related forms.
Familiarity with not just how to perform the
construction of a project, but the paperwork and processes required to make the
work go smoothly, facilities the client's ability in financing and monitoring
the project and are an important part of the complete package that Marvin is
able to offer his clients. |

Professional Skills
As a General Contractor and as a Developer of some of his own
projects, Marvin has been called upon to participate in many different aspects
of the overall process, starting with design, pro-forma financial analysis, and
permitting. He has obtained numerous over the counter permits for himself and
his clients in several different jurisdictions.
Marvin has worked with
numerous Architects, Structural and Geotechnical Engineers, and related
construction professionals, and has an understanding an appreciation for the
logistics and requirements of the complexities involved. |

Subcontractors
Marvin has long standing relationships with a core
group of subcontractors. Ever the student of both construction technology and
management, he has learned by working with these individuals the best ways to
provide them with information, take advantage of their expertise, and to
coordinate the work between the various disciplines. |

Contracts and
Relationships
Marvin has
performed under numerous contractual arrangements, including acting as the
approved contractor under owner-acquired loans, under contract with Building
Management Companies to do tenant improvement work, and as an the
Developer/Owner/Builder of his own projects. His familiarity with these roles,
as well as his ability and experience in producing the different paperwork
required in various situations makes him an asset to many different types of
clients.
Marvins respect for the designer allows for a close working
relationship. He considers meeting and exceeding the expectations of his
clients to be of the utmost importance in all of his working
