This is an 800 s.f. addition over the original 800 s.f. footprint of
this house, to which another 400 s.f. had been previously added at the ground
level.
The design strategy is to treat the now
expanded house as a simple volume with two new elements, a stair tower, and an
entry structure, each of which has functional, aesthetic and symbolic roles to play in the overall
composition.
While the stair tower climbs vertically in the background,
seeking the light and the view, the entry structure integrates with the
landscape elements, reaching forward to welcome the residents home and visitors
in. |

was (is) a pleasure working with you... we are very happy with the design and
the final product, and we're very happy to be living in our new
home."
