The Musician's Association moved from their old offices, designed in
1955 by Ibsen Nelsen, to these new offices, design by Ray C. Freeman III, in
2009. An update was in order, baseed on both the passage of time, and in the
nature of the business conducted.
The front wall of the space, with lots
of storefront windows, was at at angle to the back wall, which had none. The
program called for both a number of office spaces and some open office
areas. |

The plan brings
the geometry of the storefront wall back to the offices, complete with interior
relights, while at the same time bringing the angle of the back wall out into
the furnishings and fixtures in the front open office area.
This play of one geometry agains the other is echoed
in the cubist designs of the office front and the opposition of solid green
walls at the storefront to the colorful panelized walls of the interior, which
come together at the conference room door above. |
